What's my next step?
Browse the designs and the price list to find the size and package that suit your backyard and budget. Then request a free quote. We'll check your site, answer your questions and send you a site-specific proposal.
How much does a Kubby cost?
It depends on the size and the package. Kits start from $20,000 + GST, Lock-up from $34,000 + GST and Turnkey from $60,000 + GST. Every design page lists the guide price for each size. Send us your property address and we'll prepare a free, site-specific proposal with your final price.
What's the difference between Kit, Lock-up and Turnkey?
A Kit is everything you need to build your Kubby, delivered to your site, for you or your own builder to put together. Lock-up adds construction on site, so it's built and weather-tight, ready for you to finish inside. Turnkey is the complete package: approvals, construction, bathroom, electrical and plumbing, ready to move in.
What can I use a Kubby for?
A Kubby can be a granny flat, guest room, home office, studio, games room, home gym, kids' playroom, pool house or rental. Most people end up using theirs for more than one thing over the years.
Should I owner-build or use a licensed builder?
Both work, and we support you either way. Owner-building usually saves 10 to 30% because you avoid a builder's margin, and gives you more control. It suits people with the time to coordinate trades. A licensed builder costs a little more but takes care of the whole build and more of the risk. We can connect you with vetted local builders.
Do I need council approval?
Most Kubbys need building approval, and plumbing approval if they have a bathroom. On the Turnkey package we handle approvals, certification and engineering for you. On Kit and Lock-up we can help you work out what's needed for your property.
What's a Kubby made from?
Truecore® steel frames, engineered to an N3 wind rating, Colorbond® roofing, Weathertex® cladding and G.James aluminium windows and doors. The steel is termite-proof and non-combustible, and most materials are Australian made.
How do I keep track of my project?
Every Kubby customer gets access to the Kubby dashboard. You can see your timeline, documents, selections, quotes and invoices, and message your project team, all in one place.
